During the second year of life, a toddler’s need for independence starts to become obvious. At this point, children start to walk well, and they wish to explore their environment on their own. They no longer want to spend the whole day in their mother’s arms: the world has become too interesting for that.

We can start preparing for the arrival of a new baby from a Montessori point of view, much before the baby is actually born. Preparing Montessori activities is really thrilling and sometimes we, as parents, can get slightly carried away by our early learning goals.

The Montessori Method was created at the beginning of the 20th century by the Italian physician and pedagogue Maria Montessori, creator of what we know as scientific pedagogy. Maria Montessori was the first Italian woman to finish university training as a medical doctor.
